Who Needs Treatment for Hepatitis C?
According to the NIH, all people with chronic hepatitis C are candidates for antiviral treatment. Physicians may recommend treatment for patients with:
  • High-risk for progression to cirrhosis
  • Measurable viral load (ie, positive HCV RNA test)
  • Elevated ALTs
  • Liver biopsy that indicates moderate or severe disease (ie, moderate degree of fibrosis and inflammation)

Talk to your doctor about these factors.
